Due to inappropriate comments and videos shared on this thread I will not be updating this from here forward.. I will either create a spot on my personal website http://www.lorentedford.com or on the webpage for the new BHD server i am working on website which is bhd.Ltcraft.net

Sorry for the Inconvenience Best wishes to all!

Hi name here is Loren and I have a Server 2008 R2 vps and would like to host BHD on it.. This server is actually being hosted via KVM and has Generic Graphics card drivers.. Any ideas on how to get this thing to pass the resolution test so i can just host the game??

to view the latest information: bhd.Ltcraft.net

Ok I am updating this intial post for a couple of reason first reason is the problem is still not resolved as of 12/16/2014 at 1:15am Central Standard Time.. Below is todays update on the server situation..

Ok just wanted to update everyone on progress so far we have learned that in a Virtual environment it is near to impossible to put Virtualbox inside of KVM virtualization.. I actually got pretty far but got hung up.. Here is the information that i have posted for help on below.... The server is a 4 core with 4 gb of memory running debian however it is in a kvm environment.. I ditched the windows host because of no ability to emulate the 3d graphics for the server side hosting... With Virtual box however i am fully able to use 3d graphics after the installation of Wined3d it can be found here:  http://www.nongnu.org/wined3d/

However in windows server 2008 with the way some of the permissions where it was trying to view this as hyper-v type emulator etc.. Meaning Microsoft wanted me to pay for a Remote Desktop Virtualization key to run the application that requires 3d graphics..

So.. Here below is the information i have gather so far i will continue to try and shake the bugs out and find away to do this.. Another user up there had commands please send them they look promising..

Hi name here is Loren I am trying to host a very old game and it requires Windows to run name of the game is called Black Hawk down and we were able to successfully get it to run here at the house with Virtual Box however after uploading the vbox Vdi files etc.. We have been running into an issue with Kernal Headers...

Black Hawk Down requirements
Minimum System Requirements:
RAM: 256 MB or greater required
VGA:Any D3D card with 32 megs of ram. Compatible 3D cards: nVidia TNT-2, GeForce series, or ATI Radeon series.
DX: DirextX 8.1 required (Review system required DX9 for game to function properly.)
OS: Windows 98, ME, 2000, or XP
HDD: 750 MB free space required
Sound: Any windows compatible
ODD: 4x or greater
Network: LAN: Up to 50 simultaneous players (may require dedicated server).
Internet: Up to 32 simultaneous players via NovaWorld

root@(none):/home/loren# VBoxHeadless --startvm "Windows Xp Media Center(copy)"
WARNING: The vboxdrv kernel module is not loaded. Either there is no module
available for the current kernel (3.2.0-4-amd64) or it failed to

You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed.
VBoxHeadless: supR3HardenedVerifyDir: Cannot trust the directory "/usr/lib/virtualbox": group and/or other writable (st_mode=040777)

(Running VirtualBox in a Xen environment is not supported)

so took a look to make sure my headers where correct..

root@(none):/home/loren# uname -a
Linux (none) 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.63-2+deb7u2 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Any suggestions on how to fix this or get around this just to host my little windows box for my personal game server?

Make a shortcut to BHD.exe and add the command /serveonly

EXAMPLE:
"...Novalogic/bhd.exe" /serveonly

You will neeed dedicated graphics if that doesn't work.

this shortcut dont make skip graphic test

just one of biggest nova fails with this test and no professional dedicated server files available for all

The graphic test is a big flaw however we were able to get BHD to run in Wine using linux may have been going about this wrong I am about to try a Virtual Box with windows xp Media Center because that is the only free license key i have left at the moment and try hosting it on my Debian server headless and see if that works.. Probably going to toss the Windows Server 2008 setup it was just a test to see if it could be done..

Wanted to update everyone..
Virtualized environment with Windows Media Center does work on my own pc I am in the middle up uploading the Virtual Box Data to my VPS the trick is running this headless via command line and in hopes nothing messes up in the process Also I will be curious as to how much grunt power this thing is going to use I only have a 4 cores and 4 gb of ram on my linode..

The particular Host i had would now allow Hyper-V however was successful in getting the server to run correctly in a Virtual Box VM with 3d enabled using my Xubuntu 14.o4LTS seemed to work great.. I am attempting to upload the virtual machine out to my debian box and see if it works the same..

Well for the latest information you can visit bhd.Ltcraft.net that should be updated immediately once the server arrives online..

The OP appears to have solved this with some high level configuring so I don't see why there was any need to ask anything here and you certainly are the type who just doesn't help things, you obviously don't have the slightest clue about it.

It works in most cases and many hosts do it (some still serving right at this moment) and besides there are sure to be other hardware/software issues involved, not the least being the O/S in question, so what else would you expect?

The commandline variables NL embeded in their software definitely work and allow you to host on non dedicated systems with the following syntax.

/serveonly

/serveonly /w

/serveonly /many

and a few others...

Well after a year of playing around with vps providers or (Virtual Private Servers) I think we are going to look at some bare metal machines like this one below... This one here supports custom kernal headers which can be needed in Virtualization environments..

Processor Intel Xeon W3520
Cores/Threads 4 cores/ 8 threads
Frequency 2.66 GHz+
RAM 16 GB ECC
Disks 2 x 2 TB SATA
RAID Soft
Network connection 1 Gbps
Bandwidth 250 Mbps
Traffic Unlimited
IPv4 1
IPv6 /64
Anti-DDoS Included
Failover IP Up to 16 IPs with no monthly fees

I know not exactly a winner but hey its better than some of the virtual private servers i have rented in the past.. I think this might be capable of hosting my virtual environment that i have been wishing to do.. Will keep everyone posted any ideas suggestions feel free to ask or tell..
